Chapter 41 Harar

Harar is an amazing labyrinth of medival passageways and alleys. You can easily get lost in the cobblestone maze of this ancient holy Islamic walled city.  As always I am on the hunt for some faces to photograph.  Here are just a few miscellaneous shots from my 3 days in Harar.















Curb side kitchen. Many African meals are served like this right at the edge of the road.

Taxi cabs are Peugeots that are over 70 years old and STILL running on.

Inside the eastern gate of the walled city of Harar. Walk out this gate and you head straight to Somalia.

















The Toyota Hilux is a fantastic pickup and the choice all over Africa.  Rebels in many african nations mount 50 caliber machine guns in the back. They are called "Technicals".

A holiday after the end of Ramadan. Thousands are in the streets heading back home. 











Western companies find their way into these poor countries, why not education and sanitation?
